Major Contract Award
On October 15, BEML announced it has been awarded a significant contract by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. This involves designing, manufacturing, and commissioning two high-speed trainsets, each consisting of eight cars.

Each train car is priced at ₹27.86 crore. The total contract amount includes costs for design, one-time development, non-recurring charges, and essential equipment like jigs, fixtures, tooling, and testing facilities. These resources will support future high-speed rail projects in India.

Upcoming Phases and Future Plans
The first phase of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad project will cover a 50 km stretch between Surat and Bilimora, projected for completion by August 2026. The entire 508 km corridor will feature trains capable of speeds up to 320 km/h, utilizing advanced Japanese Shinkansen technology, complete with business-class lounges, waiting areas, and restrooms.
