In Biggest Drug Bust In Delhi, 500 kg Cocaine Worth Rs 2,000 Crore Seized, police said.
Four men were arrested in connection with the drug bust after a raid in South Delhi.
In a significant breakthrough, Delhi Police apprehended two Afghan nationals in the Tilak Nagar area, uncovering a substantial stash of illicit drugs. The suspects were found in possession of approximately 400 grams of heroin and 160 grams of cocaine, valued at several lakhs.
This successful operation is the latest in a series of concerted efforts by Delhi’s law enforcement agencies to combat the narcotics trade. The arrests and seizures underscore the police’s unwavering commitment to curbing the flow of illegal substances and ensuring public safety.
The cocaine was smuggled into Delhi by road from various States and the marijuana was brought in through the aerial route from Phuket, Thailand, confirmed police. The police also said that the accused traded in cryptocurrency to avoid detection by law enforcement agencies.
On the same day, Delhi Customs seized 1,660 gram of cocaine valued over Rs 24 crore from a passenger at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
In a major narcotics bust, Delhi Customs officials at Indira Gandhi International Airport intercepted a significant consignment of cocaine. A male passenger, a national of the Federal Republic of Liberia, was arrested upon arrival from Dubai. The seized cocaine weighed 1.66 kilograms and valued at ₹24.90 crore.
The passenger was taken into custody under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. This successful operation highlights Delhi Customs’ vigilance and commitment to curbing narcotics smuggling.
College students and rich businessmen were targets
In a massive drug bust, Delhi Police’s Special Cell seized 602 kilograms of Grade-A Colombian cocaine on October 2, valued at approximately ₹5,620 crores (around $667 million) in the international market. The operation also uncovered 40 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana, worth ₹200 crores.
Four key members of the cartel were arrested, including Tushar Goyal, 40, Himanshu Kumar, 27, Aurangzeb Siddiqui, 23, and Bharat Kumar Jain, 48.
The cartel planned to distribute the drugs at concerts and festivals in Delhi, Mumbai, and Goa, targeting affluent individuals, students, and professionals. The drugs were cleverly concealed in cardboard boxes labeled as polo T-shirt deliveries.
Authorities have identified the cartel’s leader, currently based in Dubai, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
This significant bust deals a substantial blow to the international drug trade network operating in India and highlights the growing sophistication of drug smuggling operations in the country.
