India Bolsters Agricultural Ties at G20 Ministerial Meeting
India strengthened its position as a global agricultural leader by engaging in productive bilateral talks with major nations during the G20 Agriculture Ministerial Meeting in Brazil. Led by Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ram Nath Thakur, the Indian delegation met with representatives from the United States, Brazil, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan, Spain, and the United Arab Emirates.
Key areas of discussion included:
Climate-smart agriculture: India emphasized the importance of sustainable agricultural practices to combat climate change and ensure food security.
Agricultural productivity: Both India and its partners explored ways to enhance agricultural productivity through innovation and technology.
Market access: India sought to address barriers to market access for its agricultural products, particularly fruits and vegetables, in international markets.
Agricultural credit: The Indian delegation discussed strategies to improve access to agricultural credit for farmers, ensuring their financial stability.
The bilateral meetings also provided an opportunity for India to showcase its achievements in agricultural development and share its expertise with other countries.
