New Delhi – In a significant counter-terror operation in Anknoor, Jammu and Kashmir, security forces successfully neutralized three heavily armed terrorists who were reportedly “here for a big purpose.” The operation, conducted on Tuesday, marked a notable use of advanced technology, including unmanned vehicles and artificial intelligence, to enhance operational effectiveness.
During a press briefing, Major General Sameer Srivastava, GOC of the 10 Infantry Division, detailed the successful operation and commended the collaboration among various security and intelligence agencies. “We received timely information from local residents regarding the presence of new individuals in the area. Acting on this intelligence, we were able to prepare and respond swiftly,” he stated.
The neutralized terrorists were armed to the teeth, indicating a serious threat to local security. Major General Srivastava emphasized, “Their purpose was thwarted when they opened fire at our convoy, which confirms our belief that they were planning a significant attack. Terrorist organizations had hinted at executing a major operation, and we were well-prepared.”
The operation featured the deployment of autonomous vehicles, which were instrumental in navigating the challenging terrain of the region, characterized by steep gradients and dense forest. “After the operation, there were rumors that we utilized BMP vehicles. However, we chose these specific vehicles to effectively reach the militants’ location given the difficult conditions,” he clarified.
Tragically, the operation also resulted in the loss of an Army dog, who played a crucial role in the search efforts. “We mourn the loss of our brave Army dog, whose sacrifice undoubtedly saved many lives during this operation,” Major General Srivastava remarked.
The successful neutralization of the terrorists highlights the ongoing commitment of security forces to counter terrorism in the region and underscores the importance of community vigilance in maintaining safety and security in Jammu and Kashmir.
